Get to Know the Experts!

Lori Bush knows leadership. She’s an at-large member of the Town of Cary Council and serves several non-profits. She works at Cisco Systems where she creates technology solutions for learning and education and has a passion for ensuring the safety and security of students and schools.

Dr. Camille Hedrick is NCPTA’s Principal of the Year and is currently the principal of Panther Creek High School. She’s been an educator and advocate for every child for nearly 40 years. Get to know Lori and Camille as they talk about leadership at the Family Engagement Leadership Forum!

Lynn Edmonds is Program & Outreach Coordinator for Public Schools First NC. She has worked in public education advocacy for 8 years and has served on multiple PTA and civic boards. Lynn is a native North Carolinian as is her husband and they both graduated from Durham Public Schools. They have two children who both attended Wake County public schools. Join Lynn and Julie von Haefen, NCPTA’s Advocacy Committee Chair and Wake County PTA Council President, to talk about advocating for schools.

Dr. MariaRosa Rangel has over twenty-four years of educational experience and will lead the conversation about how to engage all families and use PTA’s School of Excellence Tools. She obtained her Doctoral Degree in Education from North Carolina State University and serves as the Senior Administrator for Family and Community Outreach Services in the Office of Equity Affairs for the Wake County Public Schools. She has been active in the Local, District and State PTA for the last 11 years. She has held different positions within the PTA from being the secretary, member at large to Vice-President.

North Carolina PTA President and public school teacher Virginia Jicha is ready to talk PTA officer roles with you. She’s held nearly every officer position in PTA and knows the bylaws like the back of her hand.  Meet Virginia and hear her thoughts on PTA officer roles and how our local leaders drive our mission to make every child’s potential a reality.

Avery Roberts, the Customer Success Manager at Memberhub, loves Memberhub and how its features work for PTAs and schools! Join Avery to learn how to use Memberhub and how you can use it to increase volunteerism, strengthen communication, and more!

Sarah Martin is a former NCPTA Treasurer and the current president of Panther Creek High School’s PTSA. Get to know Sarah as she shares National PTA’s Family-School Partnership Standards and provides the basics of PTA finance. Wake County PTA Council leader Kassandra Watson will join Sarah and bring two decades of PTA leadership experience to her perspective on PTA finance and the Family-School Partnership Standards.

Dr. Emily Turner is currently serving as the Assessment Coordinator for the Campbell University School of Education and an Assistant Professor for the Professional Education Program. Professionally, she has served as an elementary classroom teacher and Assistant Principal in rural Missouri as well as a Building Principal in urban Ferguson, Missouri. Dr. Turner is also a mom of 4 children, the oldest of which is in Pre-Kindergarten. Being a parent and serving parents as an educator, Dr. Turner is an advocate for strong parent and community involvement in schools!
