Harold C. Dixon

North Carolina PTA

Harold C. Dixon is a native of Goldsboro N.C. and a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University.  He is currently a Family Engagement Specialist with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and has been with the school district for 32 years.  Harold travels across the state of North Carolina conducting numerous workshops on topics including effective school leadership, family engagement, and learning at home.

Harold was the first African American male president of the Mecklenburg PTA Council, and under his leadership many trainings, programs, and leadership development opportunities were instituted.  The council’s membership and budget tripled under him, and he received the NCPTA Oak Leaf Award for creating the male engagement initiative, “Be There Dad.” Additionally, the Mecklenburg PTA Council had the largest Reflections Arts program in the state of North Carolina while he was president, and produced many students who went on to win at the national level.

In addition to his work with NCPTA, Harold has worked with many other organizations. He is a member of The Young Black Leadership Alliance Executive Leadership Team, and served on the board of directors for The North Carolina General Baptist Home & Foreign Missions Convention. Harold served as the Host/Ambassador for the 2015 National PTA Convention held in Charlotte, and during the 2016 National PTA Convention was voted in and installed on the National PTA Nominating and Leadership Development Committee.

Harold is the former youth pastor for the Saint Paul Baptist Church and Saint Luke Baptist Church, and is currently the Assistant Director of Music for the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.   He is also the proud father of a daughter, Alexis M. Dixon.

Harold has a passion for children and young people, and believes that if there is to be a dynamic positive change in today’s society, it will come from our youth.
