National Dues Increase – NOT APPROVED

The delegates in attendance at the 2019 National PTA Convention in Columbus, Ohio on June 20-23, 2019 did not approve the proposed National PTA dues increase. National dues will remain the same at $2.25 per member. NCPTA dues also remain the same at $1.75 per member. Please contact the State PTA Office if you have questions.

This was the Proposal:

The delegates in attendance at the 2019 National PTA Convention in Columbus, Ohio on June 20-23, 2019 voted NO on a proposed National PTA dues increase from $2.25 per member to $3.75 per member; an increase of $1.50 per member.

How Would the National Dues Increase Have Impacted Your PTA?

If a National PTA dues increase had been approved by the delegates at the National PTA Convention & Expo, local PTAs would have needed to either increase their membership dues to include the higher National PTA dues portion or absorb it by reducing the local membership portion.

Example: The local PTA membership dues are made of three items-local membership dues, State membership dues, and National membership dues.

SAMPLE Current membership dues (PER MEMBER) for a local PTA in NC:

Local PTA Membership Dues Portion $2.00
State PTA Membership Dues Portion $1.75
National PTA Membership Dues Portion $2.25
Total Membership Dues Amount $6.00

With a $1.50 National PTA dues increase:

Option 1: Increase the membership dues amount

Local PTA Membership Dues Portion $2.00
State PTA Membership Dues Portion $1.75
National PTA Membership Dues Portion $3.75
Total Membership Dues Amount $7.50

Option 2: Absorb the membership dues amount

Local PTA Membership Dues Portion $0.50
State PTA Membership Dues Portion $1.75
National PTA Membership Dues Portion $3.75
Total Membership Dues Amount $6.00

Who would decide on how to handle the dues increase?

Your Membership has the final say on how any increase is handled.

PLEASE NOTE- This was not considered an increase in the “Local PTA” membership dues portion; the National dues portion would have been increasing; therefore, this cost could have been passed on to members.
