School Grants for Healthy Kids are available for the 2013-2014 school year. Action for Healthy Kids has officially opened applications for grants to create or expand school breakfast programs. PTAs, individual schools, or districts may apply for these funds. PTAs that wish to apply for the grants must work cooperatively with the principals and child nutrition managers in their schools to oversee the grant process.
There are two different grant opportunities for school communities in NC:
- Single School grants of $1,500 to support school breakfast creation and/or expansion to include alternative breakfast programs
- District grants of $5,000 to pilot universal alternative breakfast programs at 2 to 3 schools for Universal Breakfast Pilots.
