Leadership and Governance Development 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

NOTE: This day is for NCPTA Board Members and NCPTA Committee Members only

DAY TWO: FRIDAY, MAY 15

Daytime Agenda 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Male Engagement Conference with Guest Speaker Levelle Moton, North Carolina Central University’s Men’s Basketball Coach
  • General Session One
  • Candidate Speeches
  • Additional sessions on advocacy, leadership, and governance

Founders Day Superhero Party 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
Attendees asked to wear superhero paraphernalia (t-shirts, buttons, costumes, masks, etc.)

Durham Council PTA Welcome to the City Event 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

2020 Early Bird Registration through March 14, 2020: $160 for Friday and Saturday

Regular Registration Fees (March 15, 2020-April 30, 2020)

  • Friday Only: $100 includes Friday’s conference registration, breakfast, lunch, snack, and Founders Day Reception
  • Saturday Only: $100 includes Saturday’s conference registration, lunch, snack, and Awards Gala
  • Friday-Saturday: $200 includes Friday’s conference registration, breakfast, lunch, snack, and Founders Day Reception PLUS Saturday’s conference registration, lunch, snack, and Awards Gala
  • Friday Only Youth (3rd-12th grade students) and Undergraduate Students: $20 includes Friday’s conference registration, breakfast, lunch, and snack
  • Saturday Only Youth (3rd-12th grade students) and Undergraduate Students: $20 includes Saturday’s conference registration, lunch, and snack
  • Friday-Saturday Youth (3rd-12th grade students) and Undergraduate Students: $35 includes Friday’s conference registration, breakfast, lunch, and snack PLUS Saturday’s conference registration, lunch, and snack

NCPTA Convention 2020 Call for Leaders is Now Open!

Are you ready to showcase your leadership at convention? Apply by February 26, 2020. Notification by March 16, 2020. Apply here.

This year’s Call for Leaders focuses on six speaking strands for 60-minute workshop sessions:

  1. Diversity and Inclusion
  2. Special Education
  3. PTA Leadership and Governance
  4. 21st Century Innovation in Family Engagement
  5. Youth Engagement
  6. Male Engagement

Application Requirements

  • Provide speaker contact information, bios (150 words max), and photos
  • Submit a session description as you would like it to appear in the Convention Program (150 words max)
  • Describe at least 2-3 key audience takeaways for your session (150 words max)

Speaker Benefits

  • If attending convention outside of your session, registration fee discount equal to early bird registration
  • Special ribbon for your leadership role

Calling All Superheroes…Volunteers Needed!

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Registration Desk Support – welcome attendees, distribute registration materials
  • Workshop Presider – introduce and assist the workshop presenter and workshop attendees
  • Greeters/Guides – greet and provide assistance in designated areas
  • Help Desk Support – answer questions and provide assistance
  • Ticket Takers/Ushers – for ticketed events, take tickets and help attendees get seated quickly
