NCPTA Kicks Off Collection to Help Oklahoma School Communities

North Carolina PTA is responding to a Disaster Relief Assistance Call to Action from the Oklahoma PTA to help school communities recover from the recent tornadoes. A kick-off collection is scheduled for May 31 and June 1 during the NCPTA Parent Education & Leadership Conference at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh.

Parents, teachers and students across North Carolina are contributing in various ways. NCPTA will collect both monetary donations and non-perishable, bulk items requested by the Oklahoma PTA.

“They are asking for the very basics, and we are ready and willing to help get these items to them,” said Debra Horton, executive director of the North Carolina PTA. “Work gloves, toilet paper, granola bars, clothing, and even suitcases.” View the full list of needs on the Oklahoma PTA website.

Donations will be accepted at the NCPTA office starting June 3 through June 17. The NCPTA office is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., closed noon – 1:00 p.m. for lunch. NCPTA will make sure collected items are delivered to the Oklahoma PTA. Checks should be made payable to Oklahoma PTA.
