Over the past year, the North Carolina PTA has teamed up with NC Action for Healthy Kids (NCAFHK) to provide learning opportunities related to school wellness. When NCPTA learned about Sydney McCoy, a young wellness hero and local celebrity chef in Apex, they brought her to the attention of NCAFHK. As a result, a nomination was submitted on behalf of NCPTA to recognize McCoy as a Healthy School Hero.
“We are grateful that Action for Healthy Kids takes the time to identify and celebrate wellness leaders who are making a difference for kids in terms of good nutrition, physical activity and overall wellness policies,” said Debra Horton, executive director of the North Carolina PTA. “Sydney McCoy is inspiring, and we appreciate the opportunity to recognize youth who step up to lead at such a young age.”
