North Carolina PTA is proud to join the Talk it Out coalition in its efforts to stop underage drinking. The Talk it Out NC website includes resources on underage drinking and tips on ways parents can start this important conversation with their children. According to Talk it Out:
- 87% of NC middle school/high school aged children say that underage drinking is a problem
- 58% of NC middle school/high school aged children say it’s a big problem
- Yet, only 37% of parents say underage drinking is a big problem.
This month, NCPTA joined members of the Talk it Out Coalition in a powerful presentation on underage drinking to an auditorium full of eight graders at Daniels Middle School in Raleigh. The program included moving stories from families who have lost loved ones in car accidents involving underage drinking.
