The NCPTA Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the Slate for State Officers for the 2022-2024 term. The Nominating Committee will present the Slate to delegates at the NCPTA Convention on May 19-21, 2022 at the North Carolina Central University School of Education Building.

Dr. Leroy Wray, Charlotte

Dr. Leroy Wray is currently the Senior Program Officer at Renaissance West Community Initiative and an adjunct professor at several universities in North Carolina.  Dr. Wray began his professional career in 2002 in Durham, North Carolina as a teacher and later as a School Administrator in Durham and Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Wray has a vast array of experience as an educator of over 17 years, including Teacher Recruitment and Retention, elementary classroom teacher, school administrator, Title I Coordinator, educational consultant, and president and founder of the Prodigal Son Foundation (www.psfnow.org).  

His “WHY”  is providing ways to educate, empower and engage students to be successful.  Dr. Wray has “been there,” and shares proven educational strategies designed for teachers and parents to get back into the driver’s seat.  Dr. Wray has firsthand experience in solving the problems educators and families face daily.   

Throughout his career, he has served and volunteered on many organizational boards such as the YMCA, Wing Haven, Arts and Science Council’s CLT, North Carolina Cyber Academy, and is currently education chair of the Black Political Caucus and a board of directors for the North Carolina PTA were he also serve as the committee chair of Male Engagement.  He is a member of the Irwin Academic Center PTA in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. Wray is married to Trish Wray, and they have two children, Peyton and Preston.
