Raleigh, NC – July 10, 2025 – The North Carolina Parent Teacher Association (NCPTA) has made the decision to not host NCPTA Convention 2025, scheduled for July 17-20 in Charlotte, NC. This decision reflects NCPTA’s commitment to ensure that all elements of our Convention are aligned with NCPTA’s mission to support ALL children and families across North Carolina.
When discussing the reason for this pivot, Dr. Shaneeka Moore-Brown, NCPTA President and Dr. Leroy Wray, President-Elect shared that, “While we were eagerly anticipating our July gathering, our first priority remains ensuring that our work, actions, partnerships, and all that we do elevates our mission, vision, and values to support the well-being and inclusion of every child and family we serve across North Carolina.”
Throughout the various logistical, fiscal, and programmatic processes that NCPTA engages in throughout the year, NCPTA continually assesses how their partnerships align with and support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. After careful consideration and much deliberation, NCPTA recognized that the selected Convention venue’s current state did not fully align with NCPTA’s deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Slated to be held later this month, NCPTA Convention 2025 promised inspiring keynote speakers and interactive workshops on advocacy, school meals for all, technology impact on youth, PTA, governance, DEI, the Annual Awards and Reflections Celebration, and more. Convention was an opportunity for NCPTA to connect educators, parents, students, community members, and community leaders. Over the coming weeks, NCPTA will finalize and share details about what’s next on its calendar. Over the next few weeks, NCPTA will work with registrants, sponsors, vendors, and presenters.
“As we reflect and adjust, our guiding principles remain clear,” Dr. Moore-Brown and Dr. Wray added. “We are committed to standing for our association’s mission—making every child’s potential a reality and ensuring our convention reflects inclusiveness, accessibility, diversity, and equity–ensuring it is impactful for ALL.”
