NCPTA Applauds 16 PTAs for Receiving Grants from BCBSNC Foundation

PTAs in 10 counties have received grant awards from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) Foundation to help school communities access opportunities for physical activity. The BCBSNC Foundation worked in partnership with NCPTA to provide Healthy Active Communities Physical Activity Equipment Grants with a focus on North Carolina public schools (K-12). The grants awards provide up to $5000 to support PTAs in their work to start or enhance projects to help communities achieve increased physical activity. National PTA Offers Smart from the Start Community Outreach Grant

Smart from the Start: Community Outreach provides PTA Regions, Districts and Councils with tools and resources to educate families of children ages 3-5 and partner with a local neighborhood community to improve awareness of energy balance concepts. Energy balance is finding a balance between the calories we consume through what we eat and drink and the calories we burn through physical activity. Three PTAs in NC Receive National Healthy Lifestyle Grants

Just ASK! Healthy Schools Grants Available for PTAs in NC

PTAs play an important role in engaging parents, teachers, and children to live healthier lives. NCPTA is offering Just ASK! Healthy Schools Grants for eligible PTAs in North Carolina. Eight grants are available for up to $1000 for 2013-2014. The grant funds must be used for a health project or program that will be completed by June 2014. PTAs are encouraged to apply for funding to support healthy school environment projects. Apply online by September 20, 2013.

National PTA will award 25 Healthy Lifestyles Energy Balance 101 Grants of $2,000 each to local PTAs for family education events targeting specific grades. Title I schools are strongly encouraged to apply. Action for Healthy Kids Offers School Grants

School Grants for Healthy Kids are available for the 2013-2014 school year. Action for Healthy Kids has officially opened applications for grants to create or expand school breakfast programs. PTAs, individual schools, or districts may apply for these funds. PTAs that wish to apply for the grants must work cooperatively with the principals and child nutrition managers in their schools to oversee the grant process. Ag in the Classroom Grants Available

North Carolina teachers can apply for agricultural outreach grants from the North Carolina Farm Bureau through “Ag in the Classroom… Going Local.”  Grants up to $500 are available to help teachers provide K-12 students with valuable, real-world education and experiences about the agricultural industry, while adhering to Common Core & Essential Standards.
