Eight PTAs Receive $1000 Just ASK! Grants

During November, which is PTA Healthy Lifestyles Month, the North Carolina PTA selected eight PTAs to receive $1,000 Just ASK! grants. The recipients will receive funds to support projects that will be implemented by the end of May 2013. The following PTAs will receive grant funding: James B. BCBSNC Offers Physical Activity Equipment Grants

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina is accepting applications for Physical Activity Equipment grants. These are small (up to $5,000) one-time, one-year grants focusing on projects that result in increased physical activity. Applications are due October 26, 2012. Local PTAs should contact Marianne Hedrick Weant for additional assistance with grant application.

Reflections Arts Enhancement Grants Available for Local PTAs

The 2012-2013 Mary Lou Anderson Reflections Arts Enhancement Grant application is now available. The National PTA Grant program complements PTA’s long-standing commitment to quality arts education by providing funds to local PTAs to establish or enhance arts programs in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. The grant awards up to $1,000 in matching funds to student-centered programs geared toward sustaining and enhancing creativity and artistic values for large groups of at-risk students.Submissions are due by Friday, July 13, 2012 at 4 p.m.

Codington Elementary Wins NCPTA Champions of Play Grant

Margie Butts, a member of the Codington Elementary PTA in Wilmington, deserves high fives all around for taking the initiative to get her PTA off to a running start. Her application for the NCPTA Champions of Play grant was selected as the winner.  Codington PTA will receive a $500 grant to support a fun, integrated approach to helping families increase their activity levels and improve healthy choices.
