START THE CONVERSATION.
STOP UNDERAGE DRINKING.

Tuesday, February 23, 2016
View Recorded Webinar

Calling all Elementary, Middle and High School PTA local unit leaders, Parents, Teachers & Families!

Did you know North Carolina has an underage drinking problem?

Exposure to drinking and the pressure to drink aren’t things that suddenly pop up in high school. Some children in North Carolina have their first exposure to alcohol outside the home while they’re still in elementary school; for most, it’s common to hear about incidents involving alcohol in their middle-school years.

Kids in North Carolina know it is a problem. What about the parents?

The vast majority of North Carolina’s youth — 94% — say underage drinking is a problem.
More than half of them think it’s a serious problem.

The bad news? Less than half of North Carolina parents share that view.

The Bottom Line: Teens aren’t prepared to deal with the risks of alcohol on their own.

What can parents do?

Please join NCPTA & TALK it OUT to learn how to start the conversation, stay involved, ask the 5Ws and find out how you as a parent can make a difference — the difference — in whether or not your child stays alcohol-free.

Involving men in schools and PTAs is critical to the development and learning experience of the 21st century student. The most common reason men state for not being involved in their child’s school and PTA is that no one has asked them.

The Mecklenburg County PTA Council has created a structure for engaging men using a process called “Be There Dad.” This program creates a point of entry where men are asked and encouraged to become engaged and involved in the lives of their children and their schools. This one-hour webinar will tell their stories of successes and enlighten you about how your PTA can increase male involvement at your school.
