Institute for Emerging Issues Offers MOOC-Ed: World Class Teaching

More than 1,300 individuals from across the state attended the Emerging Issues Forum: Teachers and the Great Economic Debate to hear national and international speakers discuss and debate how to train, retain and support world-class teachers in every classroom in North Carolina.

What’s Next?

In an effort to facilitate continued community engagement and promote action around these priorities, the Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) has designated a virtual space for a six-week “boot camp” that is open to all who wish to participate. Beginning March 10, participants can learn how to build a local team, develop an advocacy-in-action plan unique to their school or community, and apply for funds to implement that plan through IEI’s six-week, focused online activity: MOOC-Ed: World Class Teaching.

This self-guided project based learning class is offered in partnership with the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. It will focus on the themes and priorities from this year’s Forum, including work-force development, teacher training and retention, and the broad economic impacts of teacher quality in NC.

It begins March 10 and runs through April 21.
