Cumberland County District PTA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 Spring S.P.I.C.E Grants (Strengthening Parent Involvement in Children’s Education). Research has proven that children perform better in school when their parents are involved. Cumberland County PTA Council Awarded SPICE Grant

Cumberland Community Foundation is partnering with the Cumberland County PTA Council on a new grant program. The SPICE (Strengthening Parent Involvement in Children’s Education) Grant program is designed to help families and communities improve education by increasing parental involvement in Cumberland County Schools. Local PTA units in Cumberland County will have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $1,000 to fund programs that increase parental involvement in their schools. Just ASK! Healthy Schools Grants Available for PTAs in NC

Just ASK! Healthy Schools grants are grants of between $500 and $1000 for units and councils in good standing to improve the health of their school. It’s that simple–we want to know your best idea for how a small amount of money can help your unit fulfill our mission! This year, we’re using a 2 step process. First, register and complete a school health index on Action for Healthy Kids’ School Portal at https://afhkschoolportal.force.com/CommunitiesSelfReg. Just ASK! Healthy Schools Grants Available for PTAs in NC

PTAs play an important role in engaging parents, teachers, and children to live healthier lives. NCPTA is offering Just ASK! Healthy Schools Grants for eligible PTAs in North Carolina. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for 2014-2015. The grant funds must be used for a health project or program that will be completed by June 15, 2015. PTAs are encouraged to apply for funding to support healthy school environment projects. Apply online by October 31, 2014.

Wake Forest Elementary PTA Receives National Healthy Lifestyle Grant

NCPTA proudly announces that Wake Forest Elementary PTA of Wake County was awarded a $2,000 National PTA Healthy Lifestyle: Energy Balance 101 Grant. The goal of this grant program is to provide local PTAs with resources to educate families on the importance of energy balance, good nutrition, and physical activity to achieve an active, healthy lifestyle. It also aims to empower families to partner with schools to advocate for and support the implementation of healthy changes; provide families with tools to create an environment at home that supports the positive changes at school.

Two North Carolina PTA Councils Win $10,000 Grants

Cumberland County PTA Council and Wake County PTA Council were both selected by National PTA to receive the Smart from the Start: Community Outreach grant for $10,000. Smart from the Start: Community Outreach provides PTA regions, districts and councils with tools and resources to educate families of children ages 3-5 and partner with a local neighborhood community to improve awareness of energy balance concepts. Energy balance is finding a balance between the calories we consume through what we eat and drink and the calories we burn through physical activity. Learn more.
