Public Welcome at WNCN’s Education Town Hall Meeting July 16

WNCN will host an Education Town Hall on July 16 in Raleigh – and you are invited.

The live discussion will be at the Burning Coal Theater at 224 Polk Street in Raleigh. The Burning Coal Theater is part of the historic Murphey School in downtown Raleigh.

The event will be broadcast live from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m and continue live on WNCN.com after 7:30 p.m. However, guests are asked to arrive by 6:15 p.m. The event will include State Superintendent June Atkinson and many members of the House and Senate education committees.

The state of education in North Carolina has been a topic of keen discussion in recent years, with teachers arguing for more pay and the governor, and General Assembly, debating exactly how to fund education.

The Education Town Hall will cover:

  • The relationship between business and education
  • Common Core
  • Teacher turnover
  • Future of education in North Carolina
